James 2:14-17

James 2:14-17
[14] What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? [15] If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, [16] and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? [17] So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

Head: How is our faith supposed to be expressed? (Words? Actions? Both?)

Heart: Check your heart to see if there are areas of your life that you are holding back from Jesus.

Hands: What is one way you can show love or serve someone today?

The Bible says that the Christian faith is supposed to impact both your heart and your daily living. If it's not affecting your daily living, then either your faith is unhealthy or even non-existent. Now, this passage does not intend to cause doubt in our hearts; rather it gives a challenge. It challenges those who may claim to believe in Jesus, but does not let Jesus in to their daily life and plans.

So check the state of your faith by asking yourself two questions. Do you trust Jesus that He is your loving Savior, that nothing can separate you from the love of God in Him? And are you turning over to God more and more of your life, that He may use it for His Kingdom? So see if you looking for a steady future job to provide security for you, or if you already believe that Jesus already gives you this. Check your heart, as to who are you going to college for.

Remember, we are Jesus' disciples, and He calls us to live for His Kingdom. Jesus wants more than us knowing Him. Jesus wants more than us experiencing Him. Jesus wants us to follow Him.
