James 5:13-15

James 5:13-15
[13] Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. [14] Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. [15] And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

Head: How has God demonstrated His faithfulness and power through your prayer or that of others?

Heart: How can you grow to trust God more that He answers your prayer?

Hands: How can you pray more for others?

What is prayer? It's communicating with the Lord, it's hearing from Him and it's how we connect with God! Today's passage calls us to pray during hardships, during joyful times and to pray for one another.

We discover God’s power when we pray and witness God’s responses. How can we trust God more that He will answer our prayers? We need to pray and keep our eyes open, expecting God to answer. Entrust to God the timing of His response and the method of His response. Remember, God loves you more than He can imagine and God is far wiser than you or me. The Bible says that God “is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine” (Eph. 3:20).

So pray for yourself, pray for others and ask others for prayer. This is one of the biggest blessings and privileges of being Christian. Are there people in your life that you can turn to when you need prayer? Are you someone that someone can ask to pray for them? Start by asking people how you can pray for them, and then keep them in prayer. Then they will know that they can turn to you for prayer during times of need.
