Matthew 6:19-21

Matthew 6:19-21
[
19] “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, [20] but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. [21] For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

As you read the passage, what blessed you, challenged you, or raised questions?

Head: What will happen if we focus only on receiving worldly rewards? (v.19)

Heart: How will these worldly pursuits affect your heart for Jesus? (v.21)

Hands: What are some "treasures in heaven" that you can seek?

What rewards are you seeking today? Worldly riches? Fulfillment in accomplishments? People's praises? (v.19) Today's passage teaches us to seek the heavenly things. God's honor, Kingdom work, and spiritual growth.

Even as Christians, if we focus on activities that lead to worldly and temporary rewards, our hearts will also love those things more and more (v.21) . So as people who love Jesus, we need to be intentional about God being honored in all that we say and do. We need to yearn for more people entering the Kingdom of heaven so that they can also know God's love. Finally, we should seek to spiritually grow to be like Christ, which is an unshakable blessing which lasts for eternity.
