James 1:19-21

James 1:19–21
[19] Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; [20] for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. [21] Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

Reflection Questions:

Head: Why is it important to know the potential dangers of how anger can affect you?

Heart: How can you open your heart more to God, so that God can examine your heart for sin?

Hands: When angry, what should you do before speaking or acting?

Is anger a bad thing? It depends. What are you getting angry about? And how are you letting it affect you.

When we face injustice and evil in this world, it is natural that anger is stirred within us. But the important question is: how do we deal with anger?

But careful when you're angry, and do not let it guide your decisions and actions. Rather, when angry, check your heart first to rampant sin. Then turn to God is humility and receive His Word, and this will deal with the anger, so that it's the Word that is guiding you, not your anger. And when the Word guides you, the Bible assures us that this is life-giving!
